Hi All!

And a very good morning to fall of you. I am looking out my window and seeing blue sky, sunshine and birds all over the yard. The river looks great at this time, the water level is low but the fish are still moving, I just heard of 3 Chinook caught so far this week and some steelhead, so it looks like some of them are getting past the sea lions at Willamette Falls, all reports indicate that about 3000 fish have been stopped by 30 some sea lions, anyone have a good recipe for sea lion?

Let me take some time to thank all the volunteers that showed up at the Park for the clean-up, who knew there wouldn’t be anything to do, the parks people have been hitting it hard and the park looks fabulous. So we had a great lunch and went home.

Another shout out to the volunteers that helped with the fly fishing clinic, what a great clinic there were some very talented people there. A special thanks to member and Pro Guide Dave Carpenter for his assistance and instruction you are greatly appreciated, and we are looking forward to you speaking at our general meeting in June.

As for this month our speaker is Wayne Parker from Good Day Fishing.  Wayne will be showing us some new products that are in his store and giving us some good advise on fishing, so come one come all to the greatest show of all. We are hoping to see you all there.

Minto Park clean-up is on the 23rd of this month so please sign up to help.

Free Fishing Days are the weekend of June the6th and 7th we will be helping to clean fish and help the kids catch fish at the Roaring River hatchery, and we need volunteers for that it really is a lot of fun seeing these kids catch fish that are almost as big as they are, some want to take them home for pets.

Youth Outdoor Day is on the 30th of this month, there is still time to volunteer if you want to help, it is fun and they serve us lunch.

Well enough for now I hope to see you all at the meeting Tuesday the 19th at 7:00 pm.  And remember we have some great door prizes and refreshments, so bring a friend and enjoy the evening with our guest speaker and all our fishing buddies. So for now keep you r line tight and your powder dry.

Hi All!

I hope this finds all of you in good health and taking advantage of this beautiful weather. The north Santiam is down to 4 feet and the fish are moving. I was on my way to Stayton yesterday when I saw one of our local fishermen on the bridge at Mehama with a fish on, and according to his pole it was a good one, unfortunately I couldn’t stop to see what it was.

This Tuesday is our general meeting and we are having a how-to, that would be how to tie on hooks, baits, and anything else you are not sure of, so if you have a question please ask so you can receive the proper instruction. There will be stuff on rods, reels and the different kinds of line and how to work with Mono and Braided lines, sinkers bobbers and the like will be demonstrated by our members to help you to understand better the things you are not quite sure of. So bring your friends and the kids so we have a full house.

For every ones information, there will be an Angler Educator Class on March 7th at the ODFW main office 4034 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE in Salem. You can preregister by calling Darlene Sprecher at 503-947-6025 or by email [email protected] or you can sign up at the meeting, I will have a sign-up sheet for those of you that are interested in helping out, lunch will be served and training will be from 10:00am to 3:00pm. You will receive a ODFW shirt and a special hat for instructors and more. So please help out by becoming an Angler Education Instructor.

Volunteers will be needed for the upcoming winter steelhead clinic on March the 21st at North Santiam State Park, we will need help with some instruction, cooking lunch and helping with the cleanup, please sign up to help we are going to need 7 to 10 volunteers, this is our first clinic with the ODFW and we need a good turnout of volunteers.
